Last day to register for week of resident camp at 2010 price!

Attention holiday bargain shoppers: Tuesday, Nov. 30 (that's today) is the last day you can register for a week of resident camp at Horsethief Reservoir next summer at the 2010 price!

Register online at ycampidaho.org, via snail mail or in person at your local Y branch. (Paper registration forms are available for download online or at the Y.) Note: Returning campers and their siblings have until Dec. 31 to register at the 2010 price.

While you’re making a list and checking it twice this holiday season, ask yourself this question: Would you rather get your child another “hot” toy that will end up in the back of the closet by February, or an unforgettable experience that will build year after year?

A week of resident camp at the Treasure Valley Family YMCA’s Y Camp: Horsethief Reservoir won’t break when you take it out of the package. It won’t end up on a card table at your yard sale next summer. And it certainly won’t be forgotten after a couple of months. Y Camp is an investment toward a successful future for your child.

In addition to registration info, the Y Camp website (ycampidaho.org) features full descriptions of all of our resident camps. Check it out today!

Quotes from Y Camp Moms (and Dads)

Following our historic Grand Opening year at YMCA Camp: Horsethief Reservoir, we asked Y Camp Moms (and Dads) a question: In what ways do you feel our Resident Camp program was a worthwhile experience for you and your child?

The responses were amazing — and show just how Y Camp is positively the best way to change someone's life.

TODAY'S QUOTE:

"She got to grow up a little being away from home. She spent time with best friends and made new friends. She came home so fired up about her experience she wants to do LIT and CIT — she really connected with the value of leadership characteristics."

Give the gift of Y Camp this year!

But don’t take our word for it — read this sampling of Quotes from Y Camp Moms (and Dads) we compiled after 2010’s historic Grand Opening year at Horsethief:

“My son had an amazing time at camp. He got to know more kids and was able to make decisions on his own and be a bit more independent — but with great adult supervision.”

“It was her first time at camp, and she came back more confident and self-assured.”

“This was her first opportunity to be away from her parents and grandparents, her first real opportunity to be responsible for herself. She came home a little more grown up.”

“It was her first time away for an extended period (more than one night). She seemed proud of her independence and thoroughly happy with the experience. She made friends, had fun and learned a few new things.”

“He was excited about attending, and as equally excited when he returned telling me about his experiences — and had a form in hand to register for next year’s camp!”

Registration for the Y’s second year at Horsethief Reservoir, a resplendent 408-acre resident camp in Valley County, is now open for all campers — new and returning, Y members and non-members alike.

Register online at ycampidaho.org, via snail mail or in person at your local Y branch. (Paper registration forms are available for download online or at the Y.) Register by Nov. 30 and get a week of resident camp at the 2010 price! (Returning campers and their siblings have until Dec. 31 to register at the 2010 price.)

My son had an amazing time at camp. He wishes to go back next year. He had the opportunity to get out of town and 'be in the forest,' as he puts it. "It was the first time he attended an overnight weeklong camp. For a first-time experience, it was extremely positive, which will motivate him to try new experiences and adventures in the future.
